Born 1956 in Minneapolis, Minneasota moved to Iceland when he was 10. Took guitar lessons as a child in Reykjavik. Was part of the blues revival in Iceland in the seventies playing blues harmonica. In 1977 he moved to Sweden and studied at the Piteå and Malmö Academy of Music. In 1986 he left his wife and two young children and went busking the streets of Europe. Later that year, in Hamburg, he joined rhythm ’n’ blues group Red Archibald and the Internationals on guitar for a 2 month tour of Germany. In 1987 he went back to Sweden for his family and together they went out on the road busking, during which time he formed The Grinders with Professor Washboard and Derrick “Big” Walker. The family moved back to Iceland 1990 and has lived there since.

Over the course of his relatively short career, KK has earned more then 20 gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards, 2 Icelandic Music Academy Awards and a score of nominations for a catalog running from 1991’s Lucky One up to today.

In 1991 he was asked to write and perform music for Reykjavík Metropolitian Theater in a play based on John Steinbeck’s “Grapes of Wrath”. It was played to sold out crowds all through the winter and is still considered one of the theater’s most successful projects.
He has since written music and performed for films, television, theater and so on.

In 2002 he was approaced by Icelands leading publishers, EDDA Útgáfa hf, for the rights to his biography. It was written by top class author Einar Kárason and titled: “KK – Where the Wind Blows”. It became a best-seller.
